Mountain Dental Donates Free Dental Care to Children in Need
February 2011 – Sixty-three dentists and over 200 staff at Mountain Dental provided $196,382 in free dental care to 587 underprivileged children on Friday, February 4, 2011 as part of the annual Give Kids a Smile day sponsored by the American Dental Association (ADA).
Give Kids a Smile is the centerpiece of February’s National Children’s Dental Health Month, when the dental health community focuses on children whose families may not have direct access to regular dental care. Mountain Dental worked closely with local public health agencies, area schools, Head Start programs, nonprofit agencies, and youth and community organizations to identify children in need.
“It’s heartbreaking to see a child’s smile destroyed by severe tooth decay,” says Dr. Jeff Moos, CEO of Mountain Dental. “Imagine not being able to eat, sleep, or pay attention in school because you have a mouthful of toothaches. Oral health plays an important role in overall health, and untreated dental disease affects a child’s physical, emotional, and social development.”
Mountain Dental, based in Mondovi, WI, is a team of hometown dentists committed to the health and well-being of families and communities. Please visit them online at www.mountaindental.com.
